A 2008 study by the Association of British Insurers (ABI) of 654 FTSE listed UK companies found that companies with exceptional corporate governance records generated on average 18 per cent higher returns than those with poor records. The study alos found that organisations that regularly breached their own internal Governance guidelines under performed by up to 5% on return on assets. The message from this is simple good governance processes provide a more profitable business. Having good Governance, risk and compliance makes good business sense.
