Background Information
The Product
RiskSense is an online risk and benchmarking product developed by Reliance Risk specifically for the venues, events and sporting industries to helps users:
- Assess and control business and event related risk
- Record and analyse incidents
- Benchmark industry risks and incident statistics within an organisation and against other relevant industry users
The Problem
RiskSense was developed to address a need in the venues, events and sporting industries where risk management is increasingly perceived as an operational compliance tool rather than for risk-based decision-making across a business.
From our research we found there were few ‘user friendly’ technologies available to the industry. Furthermore, risk assessment within venues or for events, is often resource intensive, time consuming and subjective in its nature. There are few opportunities for venues to systematically share industry data, build knowledge from risk management-related research and foster continuous improvement in risk management across the industry. All venues use qualitative risk assessment that is experience based, and yet there is no tool to share such experience across the industry. It was our experience from other industries that the collection of risk-based industry data can help improve the level of sophistication, quantification and effectiveness of risk assessment for that industry.
Product Benefits to Venues
After an extensive search for relevant products on the market, it was established that few relevant industry specific products were available. As a result, RiskSense was developed to provide a means of:
- Reducing costs, subjective bias and improving the quality of risk assessment
- Improving standards of risk management across the venues industry by fostering continuous improvement and benchmarking; and
- Providing individual users and the industry with an information management system that is based upon the internationally recognized risk management standard ISO:31000.
How it Works
RiskSense is an online software platform and database. The software and data is hosted on a dedicated server with several levels of IT security and database protection.
Structure
RiskSense is designed to allow users to maintain anonymity from other users, protect the privacy and personal details of their own data, but selectively share risks and incident data with other users for the purpose of benchmarking and learning.
Users of the Software
Venue and event managers as well as sporting organizations may purchase an annual licence to use the software. A licence grants the user:
- Unlimited use of the software for an agreed number of users over 12 months
- Full software set up to customize current venues, events, functional areas, users and user privileges
- Free product upgrades
- Product customisation of any risk assessments already used by that venue
- User training including for a client administrator and general users
- Product maintenance and support
