John had a distinguished career spanning over three decades with the NSW Police Force and was engaged in a range of roles including counter terrorism, hostile vehicle mitigation, transport safety investigation and intelligence analysis.

As Senior Protective Security Adviser for the NSW Police Counter Terrorism Command, John was the  subject matter expert for hostile vehicle mitigation and was responsible for leading the first ‘hostile vehicle and surface mounted portable barrier crash test studies’ to be undertaken in Australia.
